![]() One thing to know about Indiana is that bars are for 21 and over. They reflect the artsy-ness of the Fountain Square neighborhood! If I lived in Fountain Square, I would be a regular, too. The atmosphere is casual and the bar is a neighborhood hang-out. composed of Tito's Vodka, Campari, Lime, Grapefruit, and Agave is a drink worth driving long distances for! But "The Escalante" from the "modern classics" collection (another great value at $10). Whopping (for Indy, a true bargain for WDC travelers) pricetag of $9. We ordered The "Slapped Actress" (Tito's Vodka, Lairds Apple Brandy, Lemon, Lime, and Sugar) from the T-birds "originals" menu. We dubbed her creation the "Happy Drink" because that it what we felt after that first sip! They had not yet created a drink with it but since we both love lemongrass and found the idea intriguing, we asked Ashley to create something for us. The simple syrup of the day, created by owner Josh, was lemongrass. Ashley was our mixologist the night we visited. Order off the daily/weekly specials, which are not listed on the website menu, and you won't be disappointed.Ī variety of simple syrups are used to create the cocktails. Reviewers mentioned that the food menu is limited. We would pay much more for a drink of that caliber here. We're from the Washington DC area so paying $9 - 10 for a creative, unique, visually appealing drink, made to order by a mixologist, and chock full of alcohol was not a hardship in the least and we felt the prices were very reasonable. Reviewers mentioned the high price on cocktails. Reviews on yelp and other sites are mixed but I can tell you from our experience we were not disappointed in the least and highly recommend Thunderbird. I felt compelled to write this after reading reviews from other sites (which I read after our trip). and plan to return during our next visit. We're so glad we went! And returned another night. Thunderbird is just across the street from the VRBO condo we rented in June. In the mood for a drink & appetizer? Give Thunderbird a try. They really shouldn't call them beignets. They didn't come close to the light airy little pillows of fried dough you get at the Cafe Du Monde. They served us round balls of dough that looked & felt like golf balls. Guess the cook has never been to New Orleans. The sandwich was the only dish that got good reviews. ![]() Fried chicken was good, but the mac & cheese had too much of a bacon flavor. Server told us jumbo shrimp were used in the dish. Shrimp & Grits - $20, Chicken Bucket - $35 & Hot Chic Sandwich - $19. but fries were average and melted cheese could have been any cheese. Consisted of pork shoulder, fries & melted cheese. Started with the Poutine appetizer for $15. Although the drink & beers were very good, the food was just average or worse. Thought this place was really going to be better than it was.
